Words from the Mountain

Today we got ourselves up snowboarding! I love my friends. Like I've said before, I know the best people in the whole world.

I've never had a season pass before. I''ve lived in Utah my whole life, and I've missed out on the ski scene. So this is pretty exciting. I think did well with the picture.

I'm really not good at snowboarding. At all. Last time I went snow boarding was five years ago. I fell really hard on a really flat part, which definitely makes it worse. The week after I fell, my head started to hurt really badly, and finally I went to the ER to get a CAT scan. Turns out, I just had a really bad sinus infection. I still blame Natalie Gould for giving me a concussion.
But today, we had a really good time. I fell a lot, but no brain damage!
This is just what I needed right now. I need to have time to spend lost in my own world. It's like the mindlessness of driving or sitting on public transportation or printing in a darkroom, when I have things to occupy me, but I'm not so deliberately focused that it demands my consciousness. So my mind just sort of grazes. And I get to have moments that belong me and me alone. I need those moments more than almost anything in my life.
